In regards to the HyperOS update, Xiaomi has recently made some changes to the bootloader policy. Be alert, as this revision could inch you far away from the latest operating system and its features. As per the details, phones with unlocked bootloaders will not receive HyperOS updates!
Recently, the company cited that it won’t push any HyperOS update for those Xiaomi devices that are against the bootloader policy. In other words, if your device is running with unlocked bootloaders then you might lose the chance to taste the HyperOS flavor.

How to lock the bootloader to get a HyperOS update?
- Boot your phone into recovery mode (Power + Volume button down)
- Connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator
- Navigate to the platform-tools in Command Prompt
- Type fastboot devices and hit the Enter tab
- Now type fastboot flashing lock and press Enter
- Confirm that you want to lock the bootloader
Note that for running the device as an administrator, you need to click on the Windows Start menu and type CMD. Thereafter, right-click the Command Prompt icon and click Run as Administrator > Yes. A major reason behind this rule is security concerns and protection of data.
