BMW features a Digital Key system which is an innovative way to use your phone to unlock cars. With the help of the ConnectedDrive app, you can lock and unlock your vehicle, stop or start your engine, and share the digital key with your family via the handset.
On the flip side, users can even set restrictions for children on several aspects of the car. For instance, speed limit and volume controls. It comes deactivated with your vehicle and you can enable it in a few simple steps.
How to activate the Digital Key System on BMW Cars?
- Download the BMW ConnectedDrive app > Create Account
- Verify ownership at your BMW dealer with an ID
- Install the Digital Key on your phone
- Create a 4-digit code to share the key
- Use it to unlock your car doors
- Place your phone on the wireless charging pad
- Click on Activate on the iDrive screen
- Use your Digital Key to start the vehicle
