Google Photos is getting a new auto-archive feature that will bunch your old images automatically and move them to a secure place for a long while. This place is usually a separate room in the application, away from the primary storage media.
The information reveals that the new auto archive feature is a part of redesigned Documents section, which is under development. Once available, the capability will appear as an Archive after 30 days option for the categories in the Document section.
How to enable the Auto Archive feature in Google Photos?
As mentioned, these new functionalities are in the developing stage and will take some time to show up on the official platform. On the flip side, the Auto Archive feature is optional and may be disabled by default. To turn it on:
- Open the Google Photos app
- Go to the Document section
- Select a category, say Recipes & menus
- Turn on the toggle of ‘Archive after 30 days’
