Samsung One UI 6.0 upgrade is not only serving new features to devices but also to system applications and a recent example is the storage calculation method for My Files. This is another significant change that modifies the way internal storage capacity appears on the screen.
Accordingly, the My Files app has gained the One UI 6.0 support and shows the actual storage in base 10, with binary notation changed to base 10 notation. ( Here 1GB will be equal to 1,000*1,000*1,000*1,000 bytes)
How does the new Samsung One UI 6 storage calculation function?
So far, Galaxy phone holders used to calculate the storage capacity via the binary system. (Here, 1GB referred to 1,024*1,024 *1,024 bytes). However, the new change avoids confusion regarding how the company evaluates a device’s storage.
Here’s what Samsung quoted:
“To avoid confusion in use, and in response to customer requests that the actual space not be displayed, the My Files application has been updated to display the actual space in base 10.”
