Meta is experimenting with some new segments for the Threads app and it also counts an all-new Tags feature. This might remind you of the hashtags that you use in other social media applications including Instagram. But to our surprise, it is quite different!
A major difference between the hashtags and tags is – the latter does not require a ‘#’ icon. This might be a small contrast between both elements but that’s what makes them unique. Another point of dissimilarity is that you can only use one tag for each post. Besides, there is a character limit for a tag.
How does the Tags feature in the Threads app function?
Consequently, users have to tap on the tag button. Hereafter, the app will turn that particular word or phrase into an interactive tag. One can also find other posts with the same tag by simply clicking on it.
While typing a tag, the application will pop up and suggest some popular tags along with the number of posts found on that tag. This feature is useful as it will identify the most popular topics in the app and list them in the new trending section. Currently, the feature is live in Australia and will soon show up in more regions.
