What is RCS Messaging? How it differs from SMS
RCS Messaging refers to Rich Communication Services for Android which significantly differs from the outdated SMS and MMS facilities. It is an interactive and upgraded form of messaging that enables users to enjoy all those functionalities that reside in the Apple iMessage system.
Powered by Google, RCS chats for Android bring advanced communication features and capabilities like read receipts, typing indicators, high-quality media sharing, and more. You can further initiate group chats with better security and privacy.
How RCS Messaging differs from SMS?
A major difference between RCS and SMS (Short Messaging Service) is the use of a network. Unlike SMS, which relies upon a cellular network, RCS needs data connectivity to transmit the content. Thus, RCS is a wide-ranging and more convenient platform than SMS.
On the flip side, RCS offers similar security functionality to third-party services, such as message encryption and verifying messages. However, SMS does not support these security features. Moreover, RCS can work efficiently with smartphone elements like a web browser, maps, and other apps.
