What is Read Aloud feature in Google Assistant? How does it function

Posted on

Google Assistant has a helpful feature called Read Aloud that simplifies your access to web pages. Eventually, your browser app can read articles loudly as you command it. Besides, the browser will automatically swipe up the page and highlight the text, your assistant is reading.

Read Aloud relies upon text-to-speech (TTS) technology to turn the webpage text into audio. It is a perfect option for those users who prefer listening to the content instead of reading it.

How does the Google Assistant Read Aloud feature work?

Note that Read Aloud has certain requirements and you must fulfill them to use the respective feature efficiently. These are:

  • You must have Android 5.0 or newer versions
  • Set the Assistant language to English
  • Google App should be running 10.96 or above versions

Hereafter, go to a web page via Google Chrome, Google App, or the Google News app. Now say “Hey Google” and proceed with a command like Read this page, Read it, or Read aloud. You can also click the Read Aloud icon on the Chrome menu.
