Good Lock is a powerful customization app developed by Samsung, designed to enhance the functionality and personalization of Galaxy smartphones. By leveraging various modules within the app, users can tailor their phone’s interface and operations to suit their preferences. Here are five ways I used Good Lock to make my Samsung phone work better:
1. Customize Lock Screen According to My Preference
I use the LockStar module of Good Lock to personalize my lock screen and Always on Display. This includes repositioning the clock to the top-left corner to maximize screen space and adding a weather widget to the bottom. You can place any widget anywhere on the lock screen and rearrange the notification area.
Steps:
- Open the LockStar module and enable the toggle above the Lock Screen.
- Tap on the Lock screen preview to begin customization.
- To add a new widget, tap on a space, select Widgets, and adjust its position. For existing widgets, tap and drag them as needed.
2. Customize Recent Apps Screen
Using the Home Up module, I made the Recent Apps screen more informative by displaying app names alongside their icons. This module also lets you change the layout to List, Grid, Stack, Vertical List, and more.
Steps:
- Open the Home Up module in Good Lock and tap on Task Changer.
- Enable the toggle for App Label and select your preferred layout type.
3. Show the Date and Day in the Status Bar
Good Lock’s QuickStar module allows me to display the date and day in the status bar, with options to change the date format. This module also lets you move the clock to the right side and hide specific icons like Airplane mode, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
Steps:
- Open the QuickStar module and tap on Clock Settings.
- Tap on Show Date, enable it, and select your preferred date format.
4. View Old Notifications for Up to 1 Year
Accidentally deleting important notifications used to be a problem, but not anymore with Good Lock’s NotiStar module. It extends the ability to view old notifications from 30 days up to 1 year, with keyword and app-specific search functionality.
Steps:
- Open the NotiStar module and enable it.
- Customize it to track specific apps or keywords.
Tip: Use NotiStar to view deleted messages on WhatsApp and Instagram.
5. Use the Power Button to Launch Google Assistant or Open Apps
The RegiStar module allows me to assign actions to the side key, such as launching Google Assistant with a long press. You can also use it for other actions like taking screenshots, opening apps, or muting the phone.
Steps:
- Open the RegiStar module and tap on Side-Key press and hold action.
- Enable it and choose your preferred action.
Honorable Mentions: Good Lock Features I Like But Don’t Use
- ClockFace: Add animated clocks to your lock screen or Always on Display.
- Sound Assistant: Change your voice during calls and customize the volume panel’s layout and style. Control individual app volumes.
- Keys Cafe: Customize and create your own Samsung keyboard layout.
