Samsung is gearing up to release the Galaxy M05, a budget-friendly smartphone that was first mentioned alongside the Galaxy F05 in July. Recently, a support page for the Galaxy M05 went live on Samsung India’s website, indicating that the official launch is just around the corner.
Although the page doesn’t reveal any specific details about the phone’s features, it does confirm the model number, SM-M055F/DS. Additionally, the device has been approved for sale in India by the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), further hinting that the release date is imminent.
The Galaxy M05 is expected to be the successor to last year’s Galaxy M04, a low-end model in Samsung’s lineup. To give you a sense of what to expect, the Galaxy M04 featured a 6.5-inch 720×1600 resolution LCD screen with a 60 Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Helio P35 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, a 13 MP main camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, a 5 MP front camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 15W wired charging. The Galaxy M05 will likely be similarly positioned as an entry-level option.
In addition to the M05, Samsung is also preparing to launch the Galaxy S24 FE, possibly as soon as this month or in October. Recent rumors and certifications reveal that the S24 FE will support 9W reverse wireless charging. However, in terms of wired charging, it’s a bit of a letdown.
Like its predecessor, the S24 FE will stick with 25W charging, falling short of the faster 45W charging found in some of Samsung’s other models. This suggests that Samsung is again opting to cut costs, possibly to keep the price competitive.
Moreover, the Galaxy S24 FE will be powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset, but with a twist. Instead of the standard version, Samsung is reportedly using a downclocked variant, likely to save on cooling costs. This means the S24 FE will offer lower performance than the standard Galaxy S24 model. In terms of design, the S24 FE is expected to look very similar to the S23 FE, especially from the back. However, Samsung might introduce new color options to differentiate it from last year’s model.
