Samsung Galaxy S22 camera and gallery features in One UI 6.1.1: what’s coming and update status for Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 4

Key Points:

  1. Galaxy S22 will get a new camera and gallery features like Live effects and Motion Clipper.
  2. No confirmed date for the One UI 6.1.1 update for Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
  3. Samsung is considering customer requests for future updates but no guarantees yet.

Samsung is gearing up to roll out some exciting new features with the One UI 6.1.1 update, but not every device is on the list just yet. While the new One UI 6.1.1 update is confirmed for the Galaxy S24 and set to roll out for the S23 series by September 12, users of the Galaxy S22 series will also benefit from several enhanced camera and gallery tools, even though the update itself hasn’t been fully confirmed for the S22 lineup.

New Camera and Gallery Features for Galaxy S22

A Samsung moderator from the Korean community shared that the Galaxy S22 series will receive a number of the One UI 6.1.1 features, including:

  • Live Effects: This feature adds 3D effects to photos with people or animals, making them more immersive.
  • Motion Clipper: It allows users to turn motion photos into moving stickers or GIFs by simply long-pressing on the photo.
  • Portrait Studio: With this tool, users can apply different AI-generated styles to their portrait photos, giving them more creative control.
  • Sketch to Image: This feature lets you add hand-drawn sketches to your images, transforming them into personalized artwork.
  • Overlay Translation: This tool overlays translations on top of the original text in images while keeping the original color scheme, ensuring better readability.

Although these features are confirmed for the S22 series, the actual update schedule hasn’t been officially announced yet. The release is expected to begin in September 2024, starting with eligible models, and will roll out in phases.

Confusion Over Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 Updates

Samsung’s communication around the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 has been a bit unclear. Earlier this year, Samsung rolled out some AI features for these devices, but for now, the company hasn’t confirmed a solid plan for bringing One UI 6.1.1 to these models.

When asked by a customer about the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung responded that, as of now, there is no official decision on the matter. However, they acknowledged the customer’s request and promised to pass it along to the appropriate department for future consideration.

Samsung’s Response and Future Updates

In a translated response from Samsung, the company explained that while they’re aware of the demand for updates on 2022 flagship devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, no official schedule has been set yet. The company is considering several factors, and not all requested features may make it into future updates due to hardware limitations or other restrictions.

In summary, while the Galaxy S22 will get some exciting new camera and gallery features as part of the One UI 6.1.1 update, the situation for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 remains uncertain. Keep an eye on official Samsung channels for future announcements.
