Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition leak reveals Ultra-Thin design

Posted on

Key Points:

  1. Ultra-Thin Build: The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet, measuring just 4.9mm when unfolded.
  2. Impressive Camera: Rumored to feature a 200MP main camera with a striking camera bump.
  3. Premium Finish: The design might include a brushed metal or glass panel with a brushed-metal effect.

Samsung is preparing to launch a new foldable phone later this year, called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which will join the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 lineup. According to industry leaks, this device will be the thinnest foldable phone Samsung has ever made. A recent leak from Android Headlines revealed the first image of this phone, giving us a clearer view of its design.

Thinner Than Ever

The most notable feature of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is its ultra-thin profile, reportedly measuring just 4.9mm when unfolded. This makes it even slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is already known for its sleek design. The leaked photo appears to confirm this, as the Special Edition looks slightly thinner than the Fold 6.

Camera Upgrade with a Bigger Bump

One standout feature is the large camera bump, which looks more prominent than on previous Galaxy foldables. Rumors suggest this is because the phone may be equipped with a 200MP main camera, a significant upgrade from other models. Although the leaked image doesn’t show the entire device, it’s expected to have a 5MP Under-Panel Camera embedded into the foldable screen for a seamless front display.

Premium Metal Finish

The leaked image also highlights the phone’s stylish finish, described as having a brushed metal look. However, it’s unclear whether the back panel is made from real brushed metal or if it’s glass designed to look metallic. It remains to be seen if this finish will be available in multiple colors or if it will be a limited option like the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s Crafted Black variant.

Despite the similarities to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in terms of shape and frame, the Special Edition model is expected to have a wider aspect ratio, although this is difficult to confirm based on the current leaked images.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is rumored to launch in select markets only, meaning it might not be available globally, especially in the Western Hemisphere. Samsung is expected to announce the phone officially later this month.
