WhatsApp enhances community management with new features
Key Points:
- Transfer ownership of Channel groups easily.
- Hide or show specific group chats in Communities.
- Simplified process for archiving Community chats.
WhatsApp is upgrading its Community chat features to help users manage group conversations more efficiently. Originally a basic messaging app, WhatsApp now offers advanced tools to better organize and connect with large groups.
New Ownership and Visibility Options
To improve community management, WhatsApp is rolling out new options for handling Channel groups. These updates include:
- Ownership Transfer: Channel creators can now pass control to another admin easily. This feature is accessible in the Community settings, and the new admin is notified immediately.
- Visibility Control: Admins can choose which group chats are visible or hidden within a Community. This helps in managing large groups by reducing clutter and focusing on relevant conversations. Changes to visibility require removing and re-adding the group.
- Simplified Archiving: Archiving Community chats is now more straightforward, with the option available directly under the Chats tab, making it easier to manage.
These improvements follow recent updates like Meta AI assistant integration for business accounts, signaling WhatsApp’s push to enhance its app for both personal and professional use.
