Samsung One UI 6 Watch Update Delayed; New Timeline Expected
Samsung has been testing the One UI 6 Watch update for its Wear OS-powered smartwatches for several months, but it’s still not ready for a full release. Although the company rolled out the fifth beta version of this update earlier in September, users will need to wait longer for the stable version.
According to Samsung forum moderators, there are still bugs that need fixing, and a final release is now expected in October or November, pushing the timeline back by 1-2 months. Samsung has apologized for the delay and assured users that they are working hard to deliver a stable and bug-free update. This update will be available for the following Galaxy smartwatches:
- Galaxy Watch 4
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch 5
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch 6
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
The Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, which are the first devices to run Wear OS 5 with One UI Watch 6, will also benefit from this update, offering AI-powered health insights, enhanced sleep tracking, Energy Score, and additional customization for Modes and Routines. The update also includes a new font, enhanced animations, quick actions with Double Pinch gestures, and improved apps like Samsung Find and Weather.
Galaxy S23 September 2024 Update Released
Alongside the smartwatch delays, Samsung has rolled out the September 2024 update for Galaxy S23 devices, following an earlier major AI update. This latest update is over 350MB in size and comes with firmware version S91*BXXS6CXHA.
The September patch brings 44 security fixes for the Android system, along with 23 additional improvements specifically for Samsung’s One UI. Key fixes include updates to the My Files app, Themes, the Knox security system, and the One UI launcher.
For Galaxy S23 Ultra users, the situation is a bit more complex. A camera bug discovered after the recent AI update hasn’t yet been fixed, and Samsung is working on a solution. It remains unclear whether the bug fix will be included in the September update, but Samsung has promised an improved version of the previous upgrade.
Update Availability
The September update is currently available for unbranded Galaxy S23 and S23+ models in regions like the Netherlands, Belgium, and other parts of Europe. Users will be notified when the update is ready to install, but you can also manually check by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
With these updates in progress, Samsung users can expect further refinements to both their Galaxy watches and smartphones in the coming weeks.
