Samsung begins updating Good Lock apps for One UI 7 integration

Samsung is making strides with Good Lock, a customization suite for Galaxy devices, as part of its upcoming One UI 7 update. During the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 (SDC24), while discussing One UI 7, the company highlighted the importance of Good Lock, emphasizing that it offers “ultimate freedom of personalization.” Samsung has now begun updating Good Lock apps to ensure compatibility with One UI 7.

One of the first apps to receive an update is Nice Catch, a standalone module in the Good Lock suite available through the Galaxy Store. The app has been upgraded to version 7.0.00.0, and although the official changelog is light on details, it confirms that the app is getting ready for One UI 7, which is built on Android 15 (API 35). While there’s no explicit mention of Android 15 compatibility in the changelog, the app’s APK targets the latest version, ensuring its readiness for future software releases.

The update to Nice Catch also includes minor improvements and a fix for a bug related to the Sound History feature, which helps users keep track of when their phone plays sounds or vibrates. These subtle tweaks are likely to improve user experience as One UI 7 rolls out.

Samsung has stated that One UI 7.0 will be released to the public in early 2025. This update is expected to be one of the most significant overhauls of the interface since the launch of One UI, offering improved functionality, refined design, and broader customization options. Samsung is taking additional time to ensure the new version is stable and fully optimized.

A key question remains whether Good Lock will become fully accessible globally with the release of One UI 7. As it stands, Good Lock is only available in select regions, a restriction that has long frustrated users in areas where it remains inaccessible. However, Samsung’s mention of Good Lock alongside One UI 7 at SDC24 hints that this geo-restriction could be lifted, potentially making Good Lock a core feature available to all Galaxy users worldwide.

This integration of Good Lock with One UI 7 suggests that Samsung is pushing for a more personalized experience for its users, allowing deeper customization of the Galaxy ecosystem. Whether this will mark a new era where Good Lock is democratized for all regions remains to be seen, but the signs are promising. If Samsung fully integrates Good Lock into One UI, users across the globe could soon enjoy a level of customization previously limited to certain areas.

In summary, Samsung is laying the groundwork for a seamless transition to One UI 7, with Good Lock playing a more significant role in personalization. The updated Nice Catch app, and likely other Good Lock modules, are being optimized for Android 15, ensuring users are prepared for the upcoming changes. With the anticipated release of One UI 7 in early 2025, Samsung seems poised to offer its biggest software upgrade yet, and Good Lock may soon be available to a much larger audience, making the Galaxy experience more versatile and user-friendly.
