Samsung’s next Foldable might bring new features and affordable options
Foldable and flip smartphones have gained popularity in recent years, blending cutting-edge technology with a fun, nostalgic appeal. With options like the Motorola Razr+, OnePlus Open, and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series, the market offers a variety of choices for users interested in the flexible screen format. Samsung, a pioneer in the foldable space, is expected to release updates to its Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models next year.
However, recent rumors suggest Samsung may also have a third foldable in the works, hinting at new features and potentially a more budget-friendly option.
Reports from GalaxyClub, a Dutch tech news source specializing in Samsung, indicate three new codenames for Samsung’s next generation of foldable devices: “Q7” for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, “B7” for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and “Q7M” for a mystery third model. The Q7M codename could indicate a variant of the Galaxy Z Fold series, possibly a less expensive version or a device with new design features like a rumored tri-fold display. Though a more affordable Galaxy Z Fold remains speculative, the idea of a device that lowers the price barrier for foldables could attract more users to this innovative market.
Since Samsung debuted its Galaxy Fold in 2019, it has made consistent advancements, helping establish foldables as mainstream. Although early foldable models were met with durability concerns and skepticism around their thickness, these issues have largely been resolved with improved engineering.
Today’s foldables are not only durable but visually striking, often capturing onlookers’ attention. As Samsung continues refining its technology, foldable and flip smartphones are becoming a regular sight, and anticipation grows for what features the next models will offer.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6, released this past summer, brings incremental but impactful updates. With a premium feel, seven-year OS support, and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 excels in multitasking and is one of Samsung’s most refined devices yet.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung’s companion to the Z Fold series, has also impressed users, reviving the flip-phone appeal in a modern form. Users in South Korea even have access to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, a premium version with exclusive features.
While Samsung’s current foldables lead the market, the rumored additions indicate the company’s continued investment in foldable innovation. Whether Samsung’s mysterious third foldable will be an affordable entry-level model or a new form factor entirely, the next generation of Samsung’s foldables is expected to keep advancing and expanding options for smartphone enthusiasts.
