Samsung Galaxy S25 and One UI 7: What’s next with 3nm chips and advanced AI features

Posted on

Samsung is gearing up for exciting updates, including the possible release of the Galaxy S25 series powered by its advanced 3nm Exynos 2500 chip. The Exynos 2500, developed on a 3nm process, remains a key project for Samsung despite production challenges. Samsung’s mobile chip division, System LSI, has hinted that this chip could appear in upcoming flagship devices, suggesting a focus on Exynos processors in more Galaxy models.

Snapdragon or Exynos? The Galaxy S25’s Chip Debate

While some rumors suggest the Galaxy S25 might rely solely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, Samsung hasn’t ruled out Exynos entirely. The Exynos 2500 is essential to Samsung’s strategy in high-performance devices. Although System LSI has struggled with manufacturing efficiency, the company remains committed to creating leading-edge chips, including work on a next-gen 2nm process. For now, speculation suggests that Samsung’s final decision on using Exynos or Snapdragon will become clearer soon.

One UI 7 Brings New Features: NowBar and Galaxy AI Notifications

With One UI 7, Samsung is set to introduce iOS-inspired features, including the NowBar live activity tool and Galaxy AI Notification Summary, which enhance notifications and real-time updates.

  • NowBar – Live Activity
The NowBar, Samsung’s version of Apple’s Live Activity, is expected to show real-time updates in a dynamic format within the notification shade, potentially enhancing the lock screen experience. This feature will allow users to monitor frequently updated apps, such as sports scores or ride-sharing apps, directly from their lock screen or notifications without additional interactions.
  • Galaxy AI Notification Summary
Inspired by iOS’s Notification Summary, this Galaxy AI feature uses artificial intelligence to prioritize important notifications. By grouping and filtering notifications based on user habits, Galaxy AI aims to reduce unnecessary interruptions and help users stay focused on essential alerts. Though the feature could occasionally produce unexpected results, it’s designed to improve how Galaxy users manage notifications efficiently.

Limited Beta Access for One UI 7

Despite interest from global users, Samsung is keeping the One UI 7 Beta Program restricted to select countries, likely including China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This limited availability reflects Samsung’s cautious approach to managing feedback and updates before a broader launch.

Originally, One UI 7 Beta was expected in August, with the stable release following in October. However, Samsung has delayed the Beta to late this year, aligning its final release with the anticipated Galaxy S25 launch in early 2025. The extended Beta period allows Samsung to refine these new features based on user input.

What’s Next?

Samsung’s One UI 7 Beta could launch by November, with the Galaxy S25 unveiling likely in January 2025. The Beta phase will run for about two months, with official details expected at Samsung’s Developer Conference (SDC24) in Korea on November 21.

As Samsung continues to innovate with advanced chip technology and software features, the Galaxy S25 and One UI 7 are shaping up to offer an impressive upgrade in the Galaxy ecosystem. Users worldwide look forward to seeing how Samsung’s Exynos advancements and software improvements will enhance their mobile experience.
