Samsung’s Latest Software Updates: Galaxy Watch 4, LockStar fixes, and Galaxy M14 tests

Samsung continues to enhance its devices with software updates, focusing on improving user experience and device functionality. Here’s a quick overview of the latest developments, including updates for the Galaxy Watch 4 series, LockStar improvements in One UI 7, and tests of Android 15 on the Galaxy M14.

Galaxy Watch 4 Series Gets One UI 6 Watch Update

Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 6 Watch update to its first-generation Wear OS smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. Initially available in South Korea, this major update, over 1.5GB in size, is expected to expand to other regions soon.

Key Features of One UI 6 Watch:

  1. New Watch Faces: Premium styles like Spatial Number and Ultra Info Board offer better personalization.
  2. Consistent Design: Improved visuals with phone-like toggles and modern fonts.
  3. Enhanced Health Insights: Features like Energy Score analyze sleep, activity, and heart rate to offer personalized tips.
  4. Customizable Workouts: Create routines that automatically transition between exercises.
  5. Gesture Controls: Perform actions like answering calls or scrolling through notifications using a double-tap gesture.
  6. AI-Driven Messaging: Get smart reply suggestions and favorite emoji responses for faster communication.

This update might be the last major software upgrade for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. Users looking for newer features might consider the Galaxy Watch 7 series.

One UI 7 Fixes LockStar and AOD Issues

The One UI 7 update will bring significant improvements to Samsung’s Good Lock module, LockStar. The changes aim to fix layout issues on the lock screen and Always-On Display (AOD) that users have reported, particularly on Galaxy S24 devices.

What’s Changing?

  • Independent Customization: Lock screen and AOD settings will be separated, allowing independent adjustments without affecting each other.
  • No Overlapping Elements: Widgets and notification icons will stay aligned, even if their positions are changed.

This update ensures smoother customization and resolves persistent bugs, offering a better experience for users who rely on AOD and LockStar features.

Galaxy M14 Tested with Android 15 and One UI 7

Samsung is testing Android 15 with One UI 7 on various devices, including the budget-friendly Galaxy M14. The device recently appeared on Geekbench with promising performance scores of 419 (single-core) and 1387 (multi-core).

Galaxy M14 Update Highlights:

  • The phone, launched in 2023, is among the earlier budget models to test One UI 7, although no official firmware is available yet.
  • Samsung is also testing One UI 7 on its flagship Galaxy S24 series, with a beta program expected by year-end.

The stable version of Android 15 and One UI 7 is anticipated to launch with the Galaxy S25 series in 2025, with gradual rollouts to other eligible devices, including mid-range and budget phones.

Samsung’s continuous updates showcase its commitment to providing improved functionality and smoother user experiences across all device ranges. From smartwatches to smartphones, these updates reflect an ecosystem designed for customization, convenience, and performance.
