Samsung One UI 7 media player gains Galaxy Buds controls and Beta enrollment temporarily closed in the US

Samsung’s latest One UI 7.0 Beta has introduced exciting features for Galaxy device users. Released for the Galaxy S24 series in select countries, the update adds improved functionality and subtle refinements. One notable addition is the integration of Galaxy Buds controls within the Quick Panel media player widget, enhancing the experience for audio lovers.

Galaxy Buds Controls in Media Player Widget

The media player widget in One UI 7.0 now includes dedicated controls for Galaxy Buds. Users will notice a Galaxy Buds icon in the widget’s bottom-right corner. Tapping this icon opens a detailed control panel offering:

  • Battery charge level
  • Volume controls
  • ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) settings: Off, Ambient Sound, Adaptive, and Active Noise Cancelling
  • ANC level slider
  • 360 Audio toggle
  • Equalizer settings
  • The app name currently playing audio

This feature resembles Apple’s AirPods integration with iPhones and simplifies managing Galaxy Buds without switching between apps.

Currently, this functionality supports Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. The feature doesn’t work for older models like the Galaxy Buds FE, but Samsung may expand support in future updates.

One UI 7 Beta Enrollment Closed in the US

Just hours after launching the One UI 7 Beta Program, Samsung stopped new enrollments in the US due to high demand. The Beta, available for the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra, is running in select countries, including Germany, India, South Korea, the UK, and Poland.

Reports from users, such as @SamsonSirJi and @AlpacaTech on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed the closure. Users already registered received the Beta 1 firmware via an over-the-air (OTA) update.

How to Access the Beta

The One UI 7 Beta Program is managed through the Samsung Members app, where eligible users can register by clicking the Beta banner on the homepage. With the initial slots filled quickly, Samsung may reopen registration during the release of the second Beta update.

Things to Consider

While some users may consider manually flashing the OTA firmware, it’s not recommended for primary devices due to potential data loss or stability issues. It’s safer to wait for Samsung to officially reopen Beta enrollment.

Conclusion

One UI 7.0 brings innovative features like integrated Galaxy Buds controls and a refreshed interface, marking a significant improvement for Galaxy users. For now, patience is key for those waiting to explore Samsung’s latest Android 15-based update.
