Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7, expected next year, is rumored to bring significant changes. However, one particular change might disappoint fans.
Traditionally, Samsung’s foldable phones have used powerful Snapdragon chipsets. With the Galaxy S25 series expected to exclusively use Snapdragon chips, it seemed likely for the Z Flip 7 to follow suit. But, reports suggest that Samsung might opt for its own Exynos 2500 chipset instead.
Why the Switch to Exynos?
The Exynos 2500 was originally designed for the Galaxy S25 series. However, due to production issues, Samsung couldn’t produce enough chips to supply all devices. To ensure a smooth launch, they decided to use Snapdragon chips for the entire S25 series.
Now, with production issues resolved, Samsung might use the excess Exynos 2500 chips for the Z Flip 7. This could potentially lead to a less powerful device, especially when compared to the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S25 series.
A Potential Downgrade
If the Exynos 2500 doesn’t perform as well as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, it could negatively impact the Z Flip 7’s overall performance and battery life. This could leave users disappointed, especially considering the higher price tag of foldable phones.
