Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 Get december 2024 security update and One UI 7 Now Bar placement may change

Samsung has released a new update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphones. This update includes the latest security patch for December 2024, improving the phone’s security and stability.

Key Updates:

  • Security Enhancements: The update fixes over 45 security issues, including critical vulnerabilities from both Google and Samsung.
  • Improved Stability: The update aims to make the phone run smoother and more reliably.

One UI 7 Now Bar:

  • New Feature: One UI 7 introduces the “Now Bar,” a new feature that provides quick access to ongoing activities like music playback and charging status.  
  • Potential Placement Change: Samsung is considering changing the placement of the Now Bar on the lock screen based on user feedback.
  • User Feedback: Some users have found the current bottom placement of the Now Bar to be less convenient on larger phones.

Next Steps:

  • One UI 7 Beta: Samsung is currently testing One UI 7 Beta, which includes the Now Bar and other new features.  
  • User Input: Samsung is actively gathering user feedback on the Now Bar’s placement.
  • Potential Changes: The final placement of the Now Bar may be adjusted in the stable release of One UI 7 based on user input.

This update is now available in Europe, Korea, and the US. To install the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
