One UI 7 Beta 2 arrives for US Galaxy S24 users

Posted on

Samsung has released the second beta update for its One UI 7 software, based on Android, for the Galaxy S24 series in the US. This update (version ZXL5) is available for both carrier-locked (like T-Mobile) and unlocked models.

This beta 2 update focuses on improving the user experience with better performance and smoother interface responsiveness. Key fixes include resolving issues with the “Now Bar” (a lock screen feature for quick access to ongoing activities) that caused display errors and malfunctions. Users should also experience smoother animations and navigation.

Here’s a breakdown of the improvements and fixes:

  • Now Bar: Display errors and malfunctions after closing the Now Bar have been fixed.
  • Performance: System performance and interface responsiveness are enhanced, with smoother animations and transitions.
  • Connectivity: Issues with wireless Dex connections to some TVs, Wi-Fi, and NFC connections during routine settings have been resolved.
  • Widgets: Problems with reminder widget transparency and background color for the weather widget are fixed (app update may be required).
  • Other Fixes: Issues with app transitions, Smart Select in the edge panel, power saving mode resets, GPS function, Quick Panel operation, call termination, Samsung Messages app crashes, and a personal drawer app display error have been addressed.
  • New Feature: An option to set the screen refresh rate within the Game Booster has been added.

The One UI 7 beta program is expanding globally. The US, UK, Germany, and Korea are now on the second beta, while India and Poland have just received the first beta.

Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra users who have joined the One UI beta program through the Samsung Members app can check for the update in their phone’s Settings under “Software update” and then “Download and install.”

A known issue remains where edge tool panels sometimes do not appear.

Samsung encourages users to provide feedback to help refine the final version of One UI 7.
