Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Design tweaks, potential S Pen changes for Z Fold 7, and Snapdragon shift confirmed

Posted on

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to feature notable design enhancements. Leaks point to thinner bezels than competitors like the Xiaomi 15 and iPhone 16 Pro Max, creating a sleek, symmetrical front.

Leaked color options for the S25 Ultra include variations of Blue, Black, White, and Gray. Specific details reveal nuanced color combinations for the back panel and middle frame, such as a light blue back with a silver-blue frame, or a black back with a silver frame. These colors are rumored to be marketed as Titanium Blue, Titanium Black, Titanium White Silver, and Titanium Gray, with some possibly being online exclusives.

Samsung is also exploring ways to slim down the Galaxy Z Fold 7 without sacrificing S Pen functionality. Currently, the thinner Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition lacks S Pen support due to the removal of the digitizer. Samsung is considering new pen input technology, potentially using electrostatic induction similar to the Apple Pencil. This would allow for a thinner device by eliminating the need for a digitizer in the display, though it might result in a thicker, battery-powered S Pen. A final decision on this is expected early next year.

Furthermore, early HDI (High-Density Interconnect) production approval for the Galaxy S25 family confirms the anticipated shift to Snapdragon processors across all models. This means Samsung will not be using a mix of Snapdragon and Exynos chips as initially planned. China’s Fastprint received early approval for HDI production, giving them a potential advantage in supplying components for the S25 series. This shift to Snapdragon occurred around late September to early October, requiring some component adjustments.

The Galaxy S25 series, including the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, is expected to launch on January 22nd. Samsung aims to ship approximately 37 million units across the three models, with the Ultra expected to be the most popular. Current information suggests pricing will remain similar to the Galaxy S24 series.
