Samsung has been busy with various software updates, including security patches, One UI 7 beta updates, and new features for Galaxy devices.
December Security Patch for Galaxy S22 and S21 Series
Samsung has released the December 2024 security patch for the Galaxy S22 (SM-S901B, SM-S906B, SM-S908B) and Galaxy S21 series (factory-unlocked and international versions). This update addresses security vulnerabilities present in previous software versions. Users can update through the phone’s settings or download the firmware from online databases.
One UI 7 Beta for Galaxy S24: Battery Drain and Call Fixes
The One UI 7 beta, based on Android 15, is available for the Galaxy S24 series. While the initial beta introduced new features and a refreshed UI, it also brought a significant battery drain issue. While fixing other bugs, the second beta update has not resolved this problem, with some users reporting even worse battery life. Samsung has acknowledged the issue and is requesting users to submit error reports through the Samsung Members app.
A separate update for the Samsung Phone app (version 15.6.43) addresses a call termination issue that plagued the first One UI 7 beta on the Galaxy S24. This update improves call reliability and includes stability improvements.
One UI 7 Allows Music Playback During Video Recording
One notable new feature in One UI 7 is the ability to play music while recording videos. Previously, music playback would stop when video recording started. This new functionality is available as long as a Bluetooth microphone or 360 audio recording isn’t used. This option can be found in the Advanced video options within the camera settings.
