Some Samsung Galaxy S22 users are experiencing problems like stuttering, freezing, random restarts, and even bootloops after a One UI 6.1-based update released in September 2024. Reports of these issues have surfaced on social media and Samsung’s official forums.
Some users who consulted Samsung service centers were told the problems stem from faulty motherboards. As the S22 series was released in 2022, many affected devices are now out of warranty, meaning users may face out-of-pocket repair costs even if the software update is the underlying cause.
This isn’t the first time the S22 has encountered issues after a One UI 6.1 update. An earlier release of the update had to be pulled due to similar problems. Samsung addressed those issues and re-released the update later.
Given the widespread reports, if the One UI 6.1 update is indeed causing these hardware issues, Samsung should acknowledge the problem and offer free repairs or replacements for affected devices, even those out of warranty.
