One UI 7’s large folders enhance app organization

Samsung’s One UI 7 introduces “Large Folders,” an improved way to manage apps on the home screen. Building upon the existing app folder feature, Large Folders offer quicker access and better organization.

Standard app folders allow grouping similar apps for easier access from the home screen or app drawer. Large Folders take this further by allowing users to expand folders directly on the home screen.

Enlarged folders display up to eight apps, letting users launch them with a single tap without needing to open the folder first. Tapping the folder itself reveals all contained apps.

Using Large Folders:

  1. Create a folder by dragging one app onto another.
  2. Add more apps as needed and rename the folder.
  3. Tap and hold the folder, then select “Enlarge.”
  4. To revert, tap and hold the large folder and select “Shrink.”

Large Folders declutter the home screen and improve app interaction. Future improvements could include more layout options, such as smaller single-row folders or larger multi-column displays.
