However, Samsung aims to alleviate this pain point with a significant update to its Samsung Care+ service. Starting in mid-January 2025, a select tier of Care+ subscribers will gain access to unlimited free screen repairs. This move positions Samsung to compete more directly with similar protection plans offered by other manufacturers, promising a substantial benefit for those prone to accidental damage.

Samsung Care+ functions much like an extended warranty, offering coverage for various mishaps, including accidental damage, malfunctions, and even theft in some cases. It’s a safety net for your valuable devices, providing peace of mind against the unexpected. Traditionally, even with Care+, screen repairs would still incur a cost, albeit a significantly reduced one compared to out-of-pocket expenses. This often left users with a lingering financial burden even after opting for the protection plan.

The game-changer arriving in January 2025 is the introduction of “Zero Dollar Screen Repairs.” This perk will be automatically applied to eligible Care+ subscribers, covering both the front screen and back glass of their devices. The repair options are designed for convenience, offering mail-in, walk-in, and even on-site repair services. This comprehensive approach aims to minimize disruption to users’ daily lives when accidents occur.

However, there’s a crucial detail: this free screen repair benefit is exclusively available to those subscribed to the “Care+ with Theft and Loss” plan, which is the service’s premium tier. This means users on the standard Care+ plan will not be eligible for the free repairs. This differentiation is a key factor to consider when choosing a protection plan, as the added cost of the Theft and Loss plan may be offset by the potential savings from future screen repairs.

Samsung emailed its Care+ subscribers to communicate this upcoming change and outline the specifics of the new coverage. The email highlighted that the free repairs would apply to damage affecting the front screen and back glass only and reiterated the various repair options available to customers. The company emphasized that eligible Care+ customers would automatically be enrolled in this new coverage starting January 15, 2025.

The monthly cost of Samsung Care+ varies depending on the specific device being covered. This tiered pricing model ensures that the protection cost aligns with the device’s value. Earlier in 2024, Samsung enhanced Care+ by adding unlimited battery replacements, further solidifying the service’s value proposition.

A subsequent update in mid-January 2025 confirmed the official rollout of this initiative. Samsung announced that Care+ with Theft and Loss subscribers now have access to “$0 unlimited same-day repairs.” This update was reflected on Samsung’s official website, and a statement to tech news outlets confirmed that this new perk would also apply to the highly anticipated Galaxy S25, which launched shortly after.

This timing is strategic, as Samsung often includes Care+ perks with early pre-orders of its flagship devices. This practice incentivizes early adoption and provides added value to customers who are among the first to purchase new releases. With reservations already open for the Galaxy S25 series, accompanied by a $50 credit and other potential savings, the inclusion of free screen repairs through Care+ with Theft and Loss becomes an even more compelling factor for prospective buyers. This move by Samsung marks a significant shift in its approach to device protection, offering a tangible benefit to users and potentially reducing the anxiety associated with accidental screen damage.
