Samsung’s latest phone offers better 8K video options

S25 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is leading the pack in Samsung’s phone range with its new and improved camera features. It’s not just about taking better pictures; this phone makes recording in 8K much easier and more flexible.

Record 8K Videos with More Cameras

Samsung has been working on making 8K video recording better on its top phones, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra shows off these upgrades nicely. Now, you can record 8K videos at 30 frames per second using three different cameras: the main 200MP camera, the 50MP ultrawide camera, and the 50MP telephoto camera.

To shoot in 8K, you need a camera sensor with at least 33MP. The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s ultrawide camera has been bumped up to 50MP, which means it can handle 8K video too. However, you can’t jump between these cameras while you’re filming in 8K.

Rumors and Future Possibilities

There were whispers that Samsung might use a 50MP sensor for its 3x zoom camera, but that didn’t happen this time around. Instead, they’re sticking with the 10MP sensor for the 3x zoom on the S25 Ultra.

Looking ahead, there’s talk that the next model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, might get this upgrade to a 50MP sensor for the 3x zoom camera. If that comes true, every back camera could record in 8K, and maybe we’ll even get the option to switch between cameras live while recording 8K videos. With better chips next year, this could be a reality.
