New Feature Alert: Virtual aperture in Samsung Galaxy S25

Samsung has recently released the Galaxy S25 series with Android 15 and One UI 7 already set up. This new lineup comes with some fun and useful updates, one of which is called the Virtual Aperture feature in the Samsung Expert RAW app.

With the latest version of Expert RAW, version 4.0.00.41, you can now tweak the camera’s aperture. This means you get more say in how your pictures look. But, this cool feature is only for the Galaxy S25 series. Along with this, the app now sports a sleek new look with an updated icon, thanks to One UI 7.

Right now, you can only use Virtual Aperture on the Galaxy S25 phones. Samsung isn’t planning to add it to their older high-end models. However, good news for future buyers: this feature will be on all flagship phones that come out in 2025 or later.

Here’s how Virtual Aperture works:

This feature lets you play around with the depth in your photos, much like you would with a fancy DSLR camera. Normally, your phone camera has just one aperture setting, but with Virtual Aperture, you can pick different settings for different effects.

How it Functions:

Aperture decides how much light comes into the camera, which in turn affects whether the background in your photo is blurry or sharp. A smaller aperture number, like F1.4, will give you that nice, blurred background, while a bigger number, like F16, keeps more in focus.

In the app, the camera uses information from two lenses to make a realistic depth effect, making your photos look like they were taken by a pro. Plus, it helps you manage the blur of lights in the background, using AI to mimic professional camera styles for each aperture setting.

Using Virtual Aperture:

Look for this feature in the Labs section of the Samsung Expert RAW app. You can adjust the aperture from F1.4 to F16 in 22 different steps and zoom from 1x to 3x to get your shot just right. This gives you a lot of control over how your photos turn out, letting you capture images at the perfect angle.
