Samsung updates for Galaxy A series with January 2025 security patch in the US

One UI 6.1.1

Just before the month ends, Samsung has pushed out new software updates for several mid-range Galaxy A phones in the US. These updates include the January 2025 security patch and are now available for models like the Galaxy A23 5G, Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A35 5G, and Galaxy A53 5G.

Aside from the Galaxy A35, these models are all from three years or older but still receive regular security updates. You can spot the new update by looking for these build numbers: A236USQS9EYA1 for the A23, A326U1UESHDXL1 for the A32, A356U1UES4AYA1 for the A35, and A536U1UESCEYA3 for the A53.

With this update, these four phones get lots of security fixes. The patch addresses 29 issues in the Android system and 22 specific to Samsung devices, known as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures.

Looking ahead, the Galaxy A35 and A53 are set to get the One UI 7 update, which runs on Android 15, in the coming months. However, the A23 and A32 won’t be getting any more big software updates.

Right now, these updates are mainly for phones that aren’t tied to a carrier, but carrier versions should get them soon too. To update your phone, go into Settings, find the Software update section, and hit Download and Install. Or, if you prefer, you can download the firmware from SamMobile and use a Windows PC to update your phone.
