Even though the latest Galaxy S25 phones run on Qualcomm’s newest processors everywhere, Samsung is not giving up on its own Exynos chips. The Exynos 2500 is still being developed and is expected to come out in the second half of 2025.
During today’s discussion about its financial results for the last part of 2024, Samsung’s System LSI team shared some news about the upcoming Exynos 2500 chip. They’re working to make this chip better and hope to use it in new phone models launching later this year.
Could the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Use the Exynos 2500?
This news gives some support to earlier rumors suggesting that the next Galaxy Z Flip 7 might use the Exynos 2500. While it’s not a sure thing, the timing seems to match up. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to be released in late 2025, just like the chip.
Over the years, Samsung has supplied chips to various phone makers, not just for its own devices. The focus now is on making the Exynos 2500 chip ready for a late 2025 release and finding more customers for it.
It’s not certain if Samsung’s phone team will use this chip, but there’s a good chance they might. Here’s what’s rumored about the Exynos 2500:
- One high-speed ARM Cortex-X925 core at 3.3GHz
- Two ARM Cortex-A725 cores at 2.75GHz
- Five more Cortex-A725 cores at 2.36GHz
- Two power-saving Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8GHz
- A big 16MB cache memory
- A Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU at 1.3GHz with AMD’s RDNA3.5 tech
- An AI unit with 56 TOPs of performance
This all paints a picture of Samsung actively refining its next big chip for a future market push.
