One UI 7 was introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, offering lots of new features. Samsung is now preparing to extend this update to more of its devices. We’re also getting hints about a new Measurement system that might come with One UI 8, which will run on Android 16.
A popular tech insider,@MishaalRahman, shared through Android Authority that Android 16 Beta 1 includes some new tools. These tools let users customize how their phones look and feel, particularly with regional settings.
With the upcoming One UI 8 update, which uses Android 16, you might soon be able to pick your preferred measurement system without changing your phone’s language. This means you could switch between metric, US standard, or UK standard units, like choosing between kilometers or miles, without altering your language settings.
In the past, Android would automatically set measurements, dates, and numbers based on your chosen language. For instance, if your phone was set to English while you were in Japan, it would still use US units like Fahrenheit or miles per hour.
Now, with Android 16, you can set your language to English but choose Japan as your region. This way, your phone will display temperature and currency in Japanese styles while keeping your language preference.
Android 16 also enhances the “regional preferences” menu, making it simpler to tailor your settings. There’s a new section just for “measurements” where you can select the unit system that suits you best.
With One UI 8, you’ll likely be able to use your favorite language while still adopting local settings for things like temperature and money. Although these features aren’t fully available in the Android 16 Beta yet, they’re expected in the final version. Keep an eye out for further updates.
