Samsung hinted at a new tri-fold phone during the Galaxy S25’s big reveal. Now, leaks are giving us a peek at when it might come out, how it will look, and its new tech. Don’t expect the Galaxy G Fold to hit the stores in 2025. Instead, whispers suggest we could see it early next year, maybe even in January. Samsung isn’t in a hurry, even with competitors like Huawei already in the game with their own tri-fold devices.
The design of the G Fold seems to be taking a unique path compared to what Huawei or others have shown. It’s nearly ready for production, based on earlier Flex G concepts, and will join the Galaxy family. The main screen of the Galaxy G Fold is rumored to be a large 9.96-inch AMOLED display. When folded, you’ll get a 6.54-inch screen, which isn’t as wide as the S25 Ultra but is taller because of its unique shape.
Samsung’s tri-fold will fold inward on both sides, a choice made to make it tougher than Huawei’s, which had some early durability issues. In terms of weight, expect the G Fold to be around 298 grams, similar to the Mate XT from Huawei, but it might be a bit thicker due to its different folding style.
Samsung isn’t just stopping at the design; they’re also working on new screen and protection technologies. This tri-fold will come with a special screen and protective layer, different from what’s been used in their previous foldable phones. So, if you’re into folding phones, keep an eye out for Samsung’s next move in the early part of next year.
