Where are the Music Controls in One UI 7?
Samsung’s One UI 7.0, built on Android 15, comes with many upgrades like a refreshed look, new tools, and smoother effects. While most users enjoy these updates, some are annoyed because certain features aren’t where they used to be. One big change is the location of the music playback controls in the notification area.
How Music Controls Worked in One UI 6
In One UI 6, which runs on Android 14, you could swipe down anywhere on the screen to see a panel with quick settings and notifications. If you were playing music or videos, the playback controls appeared there too. Swiping down again would show more quick settings options. But this has changed in the new version.
How Music Controls Work in One UI 7
In One UI 7, swiping down from the left side of the screen only shows notifications. To see the quick settings and music controls, you need to swipe down from the right side. This right-side swipe also gives you the full quick settings view. Unlike before, you can’t access music controls by swiping down anywhere on the screen.
Why This Change Feels Tricky
In One UI 6, swiping down anywhere let you control your music easily. Now, in One UI 7, you must swipe from the right side, which feels unfamiliar to many users. Even though it’s not a huge effort, swiping anywhere was simpler and more convenient.
Merging Panels Doesn’t Fully Help
One UI 7 lets you combine the notification and quick settings panels to look like the old layout. But this doesn’t fix the issue completely. Even with the panels merged, you still need to swipe down twice to reach the music controls because they’re part of the expanded quick settings view.
What Users Hope For
Many hope Samsung will add an option to access music controls by swiping down anywhere, maybe through a future update or as a customization feature in the Good Lock app. However, this change might not happen soon. In the meantime, you can explore other new features, like the updated Home Up tool, for more ways to personalize your device.
