Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Tough, fast, and easy to protect

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has made a big impression with its durability and speed. Right after its big reveal at the Unpacked event in San Francisco, Samsung shared some exciting news about the phone’s toughness. The phone uses a new material called Gorilla Armor 2, which makes it very strong against drops. Tests by Corning show it can handle falls from as high as 2.2 meters without breaking.

YouTuber PBKreviews took this claim to the test by dropping the Galaxy S25 Ultra on concrete from various angles. The results were surprising; the phone stayed mostly unharmed. Even after several drops, both the screen and the back looked great, with only minor marks on the new titanium frame.

Compared to last year’s model, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S25 Ultra seems even better at surviving drops, although these tests can sometimes depend on luck. However, the new model’s screen might scratch more easily than the last one because of a design choice that favors drop resistance over scratch resistance.

In terms of speed, the Galaxy S25 Ultra also shines. It beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max in a speed test by PhoneBuff, finishing tasks in 3 minutes and 7 seconds against the iPhone’s 3 minutes and 21 seconds. This is thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which has shown it can outpace Apple’s chips.

For those who’ve just picked up their new Galaxy S25 Ultra, protecting that screen is crucial. Here’s how to apply a screen protector:

  • Step 1: Peel off the tape from the applicator, place your phone into it, and secure it. Clean the screen with the included cloth to get rid of any dirt or smudges.
  • Step 2: Use the dust removal stickers to make sure the screen is spotless, preventing bubbles when applying the protector.
  • Step 3: Peel back the first protective film, align it with the screen, especially matching the camera hole, and press lightly to hold it in place.
  • Step 4: Remove the blue tape with the squeegee, then lift the applicator off while keeping the film in place.
  • Step 5: Apply the second part of the film for the lower screen area, using the squeegee to smooth it out.
  • Step 6: Remove the final protective layer, and polish the screen. If you see a line down the middle, don’t worry; it will disappear soon.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra not only promises durability and speed but also ensures your investment stays safe with easy-to-apply screen protection.
