Bixby now speaks Japanese on the Galaxy S25

Posted on

Samsung has been focusing on improving its AI voice helper, Bixby, especially on its latest phones. While Google Gemini has been in the spotlight lately, Samsung is also enhancing Bixby in the background.

This week, we learned that Samsung added a special feature to Bixby where you can choose your own wake-up word for the Galaxy S25 models. Now, they’ve also added Japanese to Bixby’s list of languages.

When we checked our Galaxy S25+ today, there was a notification from Samsung. It said, “Bixby Now Supports Japanese!” The message was clear: “Thank you for using Bixby. You can now use Bixby in Japanese. This update lets users in Japan enjoy Bixby’s services in their own language. Thanks. Bixby Team.”

With this update, Bixby now supports twelve languages in total. These include German, English from India, UK, and USA, Spanish from Spain and Latin America, French from France, Italian, Portuguese from Brazil, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. You can see the full list if you look at the settings on your phone.

However, this Japanese feature is only for the Galaxy S25 series running on One UI 7.0. We tried checking this out on an older Galaxy S23, but no luck with Japanese support there. It seems like this new language option might be exclusive to either the latest phones or the newest software version. Hopefully, Samsung will soon make it available on more devices.

This update makes Bixby more useful for Japanese users, allowing them to interact with their phones in their native language, enhancing user experience significantly.
