Samsung’s New Tri-Fold Phone: Limited release and crease worries

Samsung

Samsung gave a sneak peek of their upcoming tri-fold phone at last month’s Unpacked event. This new gadget, known as the Samsung Galaxy G Fold (Tri-Fold), is set to hit the market sometime later this year or early next year. However, there’s a catch – it might not be available everywhere.

The latest rumors suggest that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy G Fold (Tri-Fold) only in selected countries, similar to how they rolled out the Galaxy Z Fold SE. There’s also talk about the phone’s screen crease; it seems there might not be any significant improvement from the current foldable phones.

The leaker didn’t specify which countries would get the tri-fold phone, but the price might restrict where and how widely it’s sold. Durability is another big worry, especially since Samsung is planning to make only a few of these phones.

Meanwhile, Huawei is all set to introduce its Mate XT tri-foldable phone globally tomorrow. This move by Huawei brings its cutting-edge tech beyond China. Samsung’s tri-fold might use a different folding mechanism compared to Huawei’s, focusing on a dual inward fold design. This approach aims to tackle some of the display issues seen with Huawei’s earlier releases.

Samsung isn’t just focusing on this one model. They’re gearing up to launch three new foldable phones around July, including an affordable Flip phone, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. During their recent earnings call, Samsung hinted at a broad range of foldable devices for this year. Although the tri-fold won’t make its expected debut in the last quarter, it’s clear Samsung is gearing up for something big with a phone that could rival Huawei’s Mate XT.
