Galaxy Z Flip 7 could skip the Exynos 2500 trouble

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung had big plans to use its Exynos 2500 chip in the Galaxy S25 and S25+, but things didn’t work out. The problem? Samsung’s factory couldn’t make enough chips because of low production rates. So, they turned to Qualcomm and picked the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the whole Galaxy S25 lineup instead.

Now, there’s talk about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 possibly getting the Exynos 2500. Some Korean news outlets still think it might happen, but a fresh report says the same production issues could stop Samsung again. On the bright side, they might have just enough chips for the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a cheaper foldable phone.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Might Power the Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung has started making the Exynos 2500, and testing should kick off in March. But the output is still low—some say below 50%. That means only about 5,000 chips are made each month. With millions of Galaxy Z Flip units sold yearly, this small number won’t cut it. Unless production ramps up big time by July or August 2025, when the new phone launches, Samsung might stick with Qualcomm again.

People in South Korea’s tech world now think the Exynos 2500 could end up in the Galaxy Z Flip FE instead. This budget-friendly foldable is expected later this year and might not need as many chips. Past leaks about the Z Flip FE’s features also hint at this switch.

The current chip output could handle the Galaxy Z Flip FE’s needs, especially if it’s released in limited numbers, like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Tests show the Exynos 2500 isn’t as strong as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, so Samsung might not win over Galaxy Z Flip 7 buyers with it. Putting it in a lower-cost foldable could work better. For anyone eyeing the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025, this is good news—they might get a much better chip after all.
