Samsung tops India’s Tablet market with impressive 2024 results

Samsung remains the leader in India’s tablet market in 2024, according to a recent IDC report. The tablet market in India jumped by 42.8% this year, reaching 5.73 million units sold. Samsung shipped almost 2.5 million tablets in 2024, up 54% from last year. This gave the company a strong 42.6% share of the market. It led in both business and personal use categories. In the business sector, which covers areas like schools and government, Samsung held a hefty 51.1% share. For everyday users, it had 32.1%.
However, in the last three months of 2024, Samsung’s sales fell by 26.8% compared to the same time in 2023. It sold 321,000 tablets during this period, securing a 35.5% share. The drop happened because of delays in government orders, even though Samsung launched new devices like the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Still, it stayed ahead as India’s top tablet brand in 2024.
Acer Group took second place, with an amazing 265.8% growth in tablet sales, mostly in the business sector. Apple ranked third, holding an 11% share. Its sales grew by 45.4% in business and 4.7% in personal use compared to last year. Other companies, like Lenovo and Xiaomi, also saw their sales rise.
The personal use market grew by 19.2%, thanks to online sales and special offers. Meanwhile, the business sector soared by 69.7%, largely due to school projects. Tablets are getting more popular in India for both work and fun. With laptop prices going up, people are turning to tablets instead. Experts predict the tablet market will keep growing in 2025 as demand continues to climb.
