Samsung and KDDI research join hands to boost 6G networks with AI

Posted on

Samsung and KDDI Research have teamed up to explore AI-powered 6G networks. Their goal is to make networks faster and stronger by using artificial intelligence with a tech called multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO).

The two companies signed a deal in February, called an MoU, to work together on adding AI to 6G networks. This partnership will help them find smart ways to improve Distributed MIMO (D-MIMO) systems, which are key to speeding up data for users and making the whole network handle more traffic.

Samsung shared that MIMO tech helps send data quickly and covers more areas. When D-MIMO uses multiple cells, it boosts performance, especially in spots where signals are weak, and lifts the network’s overall power.

Paul (Kyungwhoon) Cheun, a top leader at Samsung Electronics and head of Samsung Research, said, “Working with KDDI Research is a big step toward changing wireless communication. By mixing telecom and AI, we’re creating something new and exciting.”

He added, “Our work will push next-gen communication forward, making things better and easier for users everywhere.” This collaboration shows how Samsung and KDDI Research are leading the way to build smarter, faster 6G networks for the future.
