Google plans to launch Android 16 by June 2025, and Samsung is already busy preparing. The company has kicked off early testing of its Android 16-based One UI 8 software on some of its top Galaxy phones. The South Korean tech leader appears to have a clear plan for this update. Reports show that Samsung began testing One UI 8 on its flagship Galaxy devices two months ahead of its usual schedule.

Which Samsung Phones Are Trying Out Android 16 One UI 8?

As of March 2025, Samsung is testing Android 16 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. These phones have been seen running the new system on Samsung’s software servers.

Note: These devices were reportedly found on CheckFirm with the new software.

The Galaxy S25 series is expected to lead the pack, likely getting the One UI 8 Beta first. Testing should pick up around the official Android 16 launch, giving Samsung time to perfect the software for a public release between October and November 2025.

One UI 7 Update Running Late

The One UI 7 Beta, based on Android 15, started in December 2024, with the full rollout set for April 2025. This update brings the biggest design changes since 2018, which slowed down its development and testing.

Samsung is now widening the One UI 7 Beta to more devices in March 2025. Beyond the Galaxy S24 series, it includes the Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, S23 series, Tab S10 series, and A55 5G.
What’s Next for Galaxy Users?

Samsung’s early work on Android 16 shows it’s eager to speed up future updates. The One UI 8 Beta might follow its usual pattern—starting in the third quarter, with the stable version arriving in the fourth quarter. For now, Galaxy fans are waiting for One UI 7, powered by Android 15. Samsung promises this update will hit flagship devices by May 2025, with the official rollout starting in April.
