Samsung’s new movable camera phone brings back Galaxy A80 vibes

Samsung Patent

Samsung recently got a patent approved for a phone design they submitted in January 2022. This new idea shows off a Samsung phone with a movable camera, reminding people of the Galaxy A80 from a few years ago.

The phone in the patent has a cool screen and a camera system that can shift around. This setup lets the camera move from the front to the back, depending on how you’re using it. Back in 2019, Samsung released the Galaxy A80, a phone with an awesome rotating triple camera. That camera worked perfectly for both front and back shots, and this new patent feels like a nod to that same clever idea.

According to the details, this patented phone has a camera that can sit in two spots. In one version, the camera faces the front, and in another, it slides to the back. With this movable camera design, there’s no need for separate lenses for selfies and regular photos. Plus, a single strong camera can handle everything—whether you’re snapping pictures, taking selfies, or jumping on a video call.

This is just one more patent Samsung has tucked away for possible future projects. Whether they’ll turn it into a real phone is up to them. Samsung has collected tons of patents for designs and ideas over the years, but not all of them make it to the store shelves.
