Quick Share now shows file previews before sending on Android

Quick Share

Google is adding a helpful new feature to Quick Share, its tool for sharing files between Android devices. Now, before you send something, you’ll be able to see a small preview of the file. This lets you double-check that you’re sharing the right image, video, or document.

Quick Share (which used to be called Nearby Share) makes it easy to share files wirelessly between Android phones, tablets, and even Chromebooks. The new file preview feature is showing up in version 24.15 of Google Play Services, but it might take a little while before it reaches all devices.

This change can help stop mistakes, like sending the wrong photo or file, by letting you view the content before it’s shared. It works with different types of files, and users will also see a thumbnail along with the file name and size.

Google recently renamed Nearby Share to Quick Share to match Samsung’s sharing system. Both companies are working together to improve the experience for Android users, making sharing files smoother and safer. So, next time you use Quick Share, you might notice this small but useful update that gives you more control and confidence before you hit send.
