Samsung confirms One UI 8 will fix this widget issue, not One UI 7

One UI 8

A Samsung community moderator has confirmed that a current issue with the widget list will be fixed in the upcoming One UI 8 update — not in One UI 7.1.

Some Galaxy users noticed that the list of widgets doesn’t update properly after installing new apps. This problem makes it hard to find and use widgets for recently downloaded apps unless you restart the phone. Many users thought it would be fixed with the One UI 7.1 update, but that’s not the case.

Samsung’s moderator said that the issue is related to how the system refreshes the widget list. Because of how deep the change needs to be, it’s planned for One UI 8 instead of the current software version.

While this might be a bit disappointing for those waiting for a fix soon, it’s good to know that Samsung is working on a permanent solution. In the meantime, restarting your phone or force-stopping the launcher app can refresh the widget list temporarily.

One UI 8 is expected to come later this year, likely alongside the Android 15 update. Until then, users will have to use workarounds if they run into the widget issue.
