Samsung News app expands to the UK and some Galaxy AI features aren’t Global yet
Samsung’s Galaxy AI features have been exciting many tech enthusiasts, with a range of tools designed to enhance the mobile experience. However, these features are not available everywhere, and that might be for the best in some cases. For example, the “Social Composer” feature, which uses AI to generate social media posts from images, is exclusive to China. While it sounds intriguing, there are concerns that such AI-generated posts could end up being awkward or inauthentic, which could be problematic on social platforms where a personal touch matters.
Beyond Social Composer, other Galaxy AI tools remain China-only. “Samsung Assistant” offers useful features like clipboard management and app suggestions, but this hasn’t been introduced globally. Similarly, “Ask AI” and “Touch Assistant” are exclusive to China due to local market needs and the limited availability of Google services there.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s News app, which first launched in the U.S. in 2023, has expanded to the UK. This app offers personalized news from top publishers like Sky News, The Independent, and Reuters, with access to paywalled content for free. Users can customize their news feed, and the app provides briefings at the start and end of the day. For those in the UK who already have the Samsung Free app, a simple update will switch it to Samsung News, while new users can download it from the Galaxy Store.
In conclusion, while some Galaxy AI features remain region-specific, the Samsung News app’s UK launch offers a valuable, free way to stay informed with personalized, balanced news.
