Galaxy S21 series will get One UI 7 (Android 15) update
Samsung is getting ready to roll out the One UI 7 update based on Android 15, and the Galaxy S21 series is on the list to get it. The lineup includes the Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, and the S21 FE.
The Galaxy S21 series came out in early 2021 and originally ran on Android 11. Over time, Samsung gave it the Android 12, 13, and 14 updates. Since Samsung promised four years of Android updates for these models, Android 15 will be the final major update for this lineup.
Google has already released the Android 15 Developer Preview and plans to launch the stable version sometime between August and October this year. Once Google releases it, Samsung will begin its testing of One UI 7, and the Galaxy S24 series will likely get it first. After that, other models like the Galaxy S21 will start receiving the update.
The new update will bring performance improvements, better security, and fresh features. Samsung usually includes some of its new functions in major One UI updates, too.
In short, if you own a Galaxy S21 device, you can expect the Android 15-based One UI 7 update later this year. It’ll be the last big Android version update for your phone, but Samsung will still provide security patches for some more time after that.
