One UI 8 may finally move away from outdated design shortcuts

Samsung is expected to make big design changes with One UI 8, its next software version based on Android 15. Over the years, smartphone companies like Google, Apple, and Samsung have followed some common design patterns. But some of these trends are starting to feel old and unnecessary.
One example is the use of large headers that take up too much screen space. While they may look modern, they often force users to scroll more to see important content. This design trend started with Apple and was later adopted by others, including Samsung in its One UI system.
But now, Samsung might be planning to leave those old habits behind. A leaked image from the upcoming Samsung Music app suggests a cleaner design without the oversized headers. This could mean that One UI 8 will focus more on showing useful content upfront instead of wasting space.
Another common design trick is adding too many empty spaces between sections just to make the layout look modern. These gaps often make it harder to quickly view all the important information. If Samsung is moving away from this too, it’s a good step toward better usability.
If One UI 8 truly brings this kind of design update, it could feel more polished and user-friendly. Many Samsung fans would likely welcome a fresh and more efficient design experience.
