Samsung Galaxy S26 might come with One UI 8.5 instead of One UI 8.0

Samsung’s next big smartphone, the Galaxy S26, could arrive with a surprising software update. Instead of launching with One UI 8.0, it might come with One UI 8.5, according to a new rumor. If true, this would be a major change from Samsung’s usual update pattern.
Normally, Samsung introduces a new One UI version alongside a new Android version. For example, the Galaxy S24 launched with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. In the same way, many expected the Galaxy S26 to debut with Android 15 and One UI 8.0. But now, it seems Samsung might skip straight to One UI 8.5.
This move could mean that Samsung wants to offer more features and improvements right out of the box. It may also help the Galaxy S26 stand out from earlier models by offering a more polished software experience at launch.
One UI 8.5 is expected to be based on Android 15, just like One UI 8.0 would have been. So users won’t miss out on any major Android features, but might get some extra tools or design updates earlier than expected.
For now, this is just a rumor. Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything officially, so we’ll have to wait and see what software the Galaxy S26 brings when it launches early next year.
