According to reports, the technology is built on Fast Pair technology, Fast Pair’s fast pairing function allows devices to easily find wireless Bluetooth headsets and pair them with Android phones/tablets.

The newly added audio seamless switching technology can automatically switch the audio of different devices according to the audio priority. For example, if the user is watching a video on the tablet, if the phone receives a call, the headset audio will switch to the phone. But if notification is received on the phone, the headset audio will not toggle.

In addition, the technology also gives the user the ability to manually switch the audio back to the original device being listened to with a single tap. Google is rolling out audio seamless switching technology for the Pixel Buds Pro headphones, and will also roll out the technology to Sony and JBL headphones in the next few weeks.

Apple AirPods already supports audio seamless switching devices. Users need to log in with the same Apple ID, and AirPods will automatically switch to answering calls on the iPhone when listening to music on the iPad.
